GlobTravels earns money through affiliate links. This page explains exactly what that means, what it costs you, and what it does and does not influence.
What an affiliate link is
Some links on this site lead to travel companies we have a commercial arrangement with. If you follow one of those links and go on to book something, the company pays us a commission.
You pay nothing extra. The price is identical whether you reach the booking page through us or type the address in yourself. The commission comes out of the company’s margin, not your fare.
Who we have arrangements with
We participate in affiliate programmes operated through the Travelpayouts network, which includes Trip.com among other travel providers. This list will grow, and we will keep this page current as it does.
How you can tell
- Any article containing affiliate links carries a disclosure near the top, before you reach the link.
- Affiliate links are tagged in the page code as sponsored, which is what search engines and browser tools use to identify them.
- If you are ever unsure whether a link is an affiliate link, assume it might be, and ask us.
What this does not change
Commission does not decide what we recommend, and no company pays for placement or for a favourable write-up.
We want to be precise about the basis for recommendations, because a lot of travel sites are vague about this. Our guides are built by checking operational details against primary sources: airline and rail operator rules, and official government pages for entry requirements. We have not personally used every service mentioned on this site, and where a recommendation rests on research rather than first-hand experience, we say so in the article rather than implying otherwise.
Where an official or free option is better than a paid one, we say that too, even when the paid one would earn us something. The China rail guide is a good example: the official booking platform charges no fee, and we recommend it for travellers who have time to use it.
